Hate to add more
I can see that you are about up to your ears in ideas. I know you are fixing and changing and lay outing, and, well, revamping everything.

With Lana's (floydrox) first application and with Nica's (heather1o1), the idea of having sponsers for re-applications has come up. There needs to be some sort of official sponsership somewhere, and probably a sub-community that coincides with it.

Over at fawkes_reunion, people are kwikspelled, so the sponser sub-community reflects that. I have no idea what name the sub-community could have here, but it is something that is looking like it is needed. At the very least, if adding another sub-community seems a bit much (and it may be, as it is seeming that way as I'm thinking about it now), there needs to be some official way of doing sponsership.

I have already worked with Nica, and am more than willing to help any and all re-applicants. Heck, I'd be fine if I were the only sponser that helped with re-applications, but there needs to be something official from you two beautiful and completely awesome Headmistresses.

Thanks! =D

I assume this is open for public debate as the post isn't addressed to the Headmistresses. So, I am going to add my opinion as Gatekeeper.

I don't think there is a need for a seperate sub community for sponsers and re-applicants. As help for the applications is addressed and addressed quite well in the User information of hh_sorting. I have refered a number of people there as well as offered to help them look over their applications.

Perhaps a list of people willing to help beta applications would be more appropriate. The list could be added to the User information of hh_sorting. Then when a person is stamped as a no vote someone from the list could offer to help them with their re-application

Well, I agree that it's possible we may need sponsors or betas. Once upon a time I was stamping Kayla's email address into all the No Voted applications, because she volunteered for that. This was when we only had a few members.

However, the problem with your working with Nica is that there was no reason to do so as of yet. She hasn't been stamped and the votes are extremely close; it seems to me that it could end up being extra work for nothing. You know? It would be better if, in the future, you could leave things like that up to our Gatekeeper until the applications are stamped. Although I do recognise you were trying to help, and that's much appreciated.

Also, another thing is that truly, the majority of people don't need sponsors, it's only the ones who are stamped No Vote. I agree with Michelle in this--that if we had a list of people willing to beta through on second-applications, that should be enough.

Waiting for Selene, though.

Like I said (as I kept writing the entry), a separate sub-comm is probably a bit much. It was really late/early and my mind was working a bit of overtime.

A list of those willing to beta would be awesome! That was all I was trying to get to was some sort of official way to have those willing to help have their willingness to help be known.

As with Nica, and my post over at hh_staff I get over zealous and have a tendency to get pumped with an idea and it kind of takes control. I will work on curbing my enthusiasm (as the saying goes).

I agree with you Maggie... The sponsership was discussed at the start of the community. As the community is still relatively small we are just operating on the "If you need a sponser we will get you one" idea. Once the membership reaches over 100, or we have a queue backed up more often it's a plan to institute the sponsor/beta program. I am often not a good beta or sponser for the simple reason that I want them to join no questions asked. I can read an app, say "I see this house so everyone else should too" and then turn them loose when people do have trouble.

For the time being... I think the no/vibe stamp with an offer to help is sufficient. I'm always more than happy to post in the hall to bable away and ask if anyone wants to sponsor. I hate to use sponsor as a word though.. With that comes the feeling that "Well so and so approved this so I should put them into a house regardless" Being as that every applicant can re-apply (unless they get a Muggle vote and even then they simply must Get beat on the head for awhile chat with Maggie or myself before we allow them to re-apply)

All in all, I appreciate the offer and I have no problem with you sponsoring her application just if possible, maybe word it as "IF you have to re-apply, I'd really like to offer my help for proofreading and suggestions so your next sorting gets you placed in the perfect house for you "
